I agree that chatbots can save you time if used in the right way. Chatbots are by no means a solution that works for every problem. Customer Support for example is a field where chatbots can free up a customer rep’s time and therefore you need fewer workers to offer the same support experience. This may be not true for all businesses, but for those who have a similar set of customer problems that arise regularly, so you can train your chatbot to handle these issues automatically.

Gartner: By 2021, more than 50% of enterprises will spend more per annum on bots and chatbot creation than traditional mobile app development

Here you’ll find the data that proves  this statement: the mobile apps as we know them will disappear. “Traditional apps, which are downloaded from a store to a mobile device, will become just one of many options for customers”.

I agree that annual investment in chatbot development and implementation will outpace traditional mobile app development. Technology spend for us will move away from traditional mobile app development and transition to developing and implementing chatbots on both our mobile and desktop sites. There are way too many benefits of chatbots for them not to be a primary focus moving forward, i.e., automatically handling first level Q&A and routing prospects and customers to the proper destinations.

According to this report most of the companies who already adapted the chatbot technology at their ecosystem recorded improvements in the speed of complaint resolution. The research is based on a global survey of 600 executives across the world.

From the user’s perspective I’ve chatted with quite a few of them and so far always ended (after a very annoying loop) to “let’s contact a human being”. Therefore they have only slowed down the actual support case. That’s why we have also avoided them on my SaaS startup’s pages.
